Hatfield House

Year 4 visited Hatfield House as part of our history topic 'The Tudors'.  A great day was had by all.  We were introduced to a few characters from the past including Catherine Parr and of course Henry VIII. Catherine Parr  taught us how to bow and greet Henry VIII.  We were told about the many weapons they used and even shown how to use a longbow! I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs of our trip.

A big thank you to the Parent helpers who accompanied us on the trip!

Hi all,

It was lovely to see so many of you at Parent's evening this week. I hope you all had to chance to have a look at the children's books and the great work they have produced.

Last week, we had celebrated World Book Day. It was great to see so many fantastic costumes. Thank you parents for all putting in the effort to make the children look superb. In the morning, we decorated our classroom door in the style of 'Grandpa's Great Escape'. In the afternoon, Arturo's mum treated the class to a Spanish reading session, which the children all thoroughly enjoyed.

In Literacy, we are continuing with our topic 'incredible sport' and the children have been writing newspaper reports. They also had the chance to have a go at playing 'disc golf'. This week we held a class debate about whether 'cheese rolling' and 'bog-snorkelling' were in fact sports or not. The children came up with some fantastic arguments and their debating skills have improved greatly since September.

In Maths, we have been looking at time, particularly converting times into 24 hour. We will be moving onto looking at measuring and calculating the perimeter of shapes.

 Have a great week!
