We have had a great few weeks back after Easter.

In Literacy, we have been looking at poetry. The children have performed and created their own poems based around those poems we have studied. Next week, we start our fiction topic and we will be studying the book 'Iron Man'.

In Maths, we have been looking at the 11 and 12 times-tables and mental strategies for multiplication. Next week, we begin to look at Roman numerals, the children will begin to read Roman numerals to 1000 and start to recognise dates.

We have started our new geography topic on 'Our Local Area'. The children have looked at the counties in England and have plotted Harpenden on a map of the UK.

In Science, we have started our new topic on 'living things'. The children watched a clip from the Lion King and recorded all the animals they saw. They then tried to classify the animals into groups. We looked at different methods of grouping and classification keys to help the children identify different living things. We then went on to create a giant classification key to identify different members of the class. The children also played a game called 'who am I?' where they had to ask questions to the class to find out which animal they were.

Hope you all have a lovely week!
