Hi all,

The children have continued to settle in well and we have had a great few weeks.

Our Tudor topic is well underway and the children have been learning all about Henry VIII and his six wives. We will begin to look at the comparisons between rich and poor in Tudor times and learn all about Tudor schools.

The children are thoroughly enjoying our Iron Man topic and have already created some fantastic pieces of work. We have been acting out particular chapters and then writing diary entries. I have been very impressed with the maturity of the children's writing and the wide vocabulary being used.

We have been looking at the digestive system in Science. On Monday we had lots of fun recreating the digestive process using a toffee/banana sauce sandwich, a sandwich bag, water and a pair of tights.
Next week, we will be identifying and naming the main types of teeth in humans and their functions.

Finally a quick note about reading records. Children should be reading on a daily basis and recording this in their reading records. Mrs Holt or myself will check these on a Thursday so please ensure children bring their reading records in on this day. Children are encouraged to write in these throughout the day if they have been reading in the morning or afternoon!

Have a great week and lovely weekend!

Welcome to the Year 4A blog!

We have all had a fantastic week getting to know each other and the children have all settled in really well.

We have created some great class rules and a class bucket list which we hope to complete by the end of Year 4.

In Maths, we have been looking at finding pairs which add up to 100 and how to subtract using the counting on method. The children became our number line to help us to learn this method. Next week, we will be looking at place value and adding 2 digit numbers mentally.

We have started our Tudor topic in History and the children managed to order all the Tudor monarchs. In the upcoming weeks we will be looking at Henry VIII in more detail and comparing the lives of the poor and rich in Tudor times.

I very much look forward to meeting you all on Monday morning for the Parent's meeting.

Have a lovely weekend!
