Thank you for everyone who came to watch our Remembrance assembly. I am extremely proud of all the children!

This week in Literacy the children have been writing a biography for an astronaut who went to Mars. They had to think about the applicants early years, schooling, training and finally the mission to Mars itself. The children have written some fantastic biographies and I'm looking forward to finishing reading them all.

In Maths, we have been looking at adding a 4 digit number by a 4 digit number and using rounding to help our addition. Next week, we will look at weight measurement

In science, the children identified and drew all the symbols for electrical components. The children enjoyed playing splat to show off what they had learned. We created a human circuit to demonstrate how electricity passes through a circuit. I was really impressed with the children's understanding and knowledge on this topic. We will next look at conductors and insulators.

This week has been Anti-Bullying week. The children designed some beautiful posters describing the types of bullying and created some group role plays to show solutions to bullying.

Have a great weekend!

Autumn Term 2

I hope you all had a lovely half term. The children have all come back refreshed and ready to start the new term.

We have started a non fiction unit in Literacy. The unit is called 'Space Explorer' and the children will be learning all about Neil Armstrong's life and what made him a great astronaut. This week we have looked at the moon landing and the children have written a diary entry. Next week, we will be looking at what qualities astronauts have and whether or not they themselves would make a good astronaut.

In Maths, we have been looking at doubling and halving. I have been so impressed with the children's knowledge and understanding of this topic. We have also been looking at unit fractions and drawing our fraction wall. Next week, we will be looking at place value in decimals and the relationship between tenths and decimals.

We have started our new sustainability topic this week in Geography. The children looked at a wide variety of pictures and had to decide whether they were showing high or low sustainability.

We spent Monday afternoon carving pumpkins for Halloween. All the children helped out by either drawing the letters, scooping out the seeds or lighting the candles. We all had great fun and the pumpkins looked brilliant.

We have been very busy practising for our class assembly. The children have been given their words to take home to learn over the weekend. Our assembly will be next Friday 11th November at 9.15am, I hope to see many of you there!

Have a great weekend and bonfire night!
