Incredible Sports

The children have been enjoying our 'Incredible Sports' topic. We have been learning about all sorts of new and amazing sports including; toe wrestling, cheese rolling, bog snorkelling and disc golf. The children had a chance to have a go at playing disc golf and it was harder than it looked...

In Literacy this week, we also held a debate about whether or not cheese rolling was a sport. Both sides put forward fantastic arguments and they all worked really well together.

In Geography, the children looked at what Harpenden used to look like and compared it to what it looks like today. We created questionnaires about our local area and for homework the children have been asked to ask someone to complete it.

Have a great weekend!

Happy New Year!

Firstly, I would like to say Happy New Year and a massive thank you for all your generous gifts at Christmas.

Last term, we sadly said goodbye to Mrs Holt and we wish her well for the future. We have welcomed Mrs Goulbourne to 4A as our new teaching assistant and she has already fitted in perfectly. We have also welcomed Alexander to our class and we hope he will be very happy in 4A.

We have started our new English topic 'Incredible Sports'. It is a non fiction unit of work and at the end of the term the children will be writing their own report on an incredible sport. The children will learn about weird and unusual sports and even have a go at playing some.

This term in Science we will be looking at sound. The children will find out how sound is created, how to change the pitch and also how sound is measured.

In Topic, we will be looking at changing environments. Today, the children looked at old photographs of Newham. They looked at how the land was redeveloped for the Olympic sports arenas, village and parks for the London Olympic Games of 2012.

Have a great weekend!
